LAHORE: Highlighting the critical role of youth in fostering a secure and equitable society, the Chanan Development Association hosted the opening ceremony of the Youth Peace Festival 2026 at the Avari Hotel.
Ombudsperson Punjab Dr. Najma Afzal Khan graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Addressing a large gathering of young leaders, activists, and civil society representatives, Dr. Najma Afzal Khan stressed the urgent need to protect women from harassment and expand institutional safeguards across the province.
In her keynote address, the Ombudsperson emphasized that establishing functional Inquiry Committees at every institutional level is vital to curbing harassment throughout Punjab. She noted that empowering youth with legal literacy and awareness is essential for building a peaceful, harassment-free society, where justice, dignity, and equal opportunity are guaranteed for all.
The event underscored the shared commitment between civil society organizations like the Chanan Development Association and public regulatory bodies to promote peace, youth engagement, and gender protection.
