QUETTA: Efforts to promote safe and respectful workplaces for women in Balochistan have gained momentum as UN Women Pakistan and the Office of the Ombudsperson Balochistan agreed to enhance collaboration on addressing workplace harassment.
During a recent mission, Deputy Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan, Ms. Fahmida Iqbal Khan, met with Ombudsperson Balochistan, Ms. Tahira Baloch, to discuss strengthening institutional mechanisms for the protection of women against harassment at the workplace.
The Ombudsperson’s Office, recently reactivated after a two-year gap, plays a vital role in providing complaint resolution, legal assistance, counseling, and raising awareness about workplace harassment laws.
Both sides agreed to work closely to expand awareness initiatives, introduce training based on survivor-centered approaches, and improve institutional systems, particularly in reporting and documentation.
These joint efforts are expected to enhance accountability and contribute to creating safer and more supportive working environments for women across Balochistan.
