LAHORE : The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held an awareness session that highlighted the spirit of “Hum Badleinge Soch”, encouraging students and faculty to challenge harmful norms and promote accountability in academic spaces. The event began with an awareness walk, symbolizing unity against harassment and a shared commitment to building safer learning environments.
The Federal Ombudsperson delivered the keynote address, underscoring the importance of protecting fundamental rights and strengthening institutional mechanisms that ensure safe and respectful workplaces. Senior leadership including Rector Dr. Asif Raza, Chairperson of the Anti Harassment Committee Dr. Naida Anwar, faculty members, and senior management joined students in reaffirming that meaningful change requires collective action.
More than 130 participants attended the seminar, which served as a platform for open dialogue, guidance, and empowerment. A campus help booth further supported students by providing information on their rights under the law.
Assistant Law Officer Mr. Muhammad Shazib Iqbal presented key provisions of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010. He also led a Q&A session, helping participants understand how legal frameworks apply to real campus experiences.
The event reinforced the commitment of UMT and FOSPAH to raising awareness, strengthening protections, and fostering a culture where dignity and safety are upheld for all.
