ISLAMABAD: President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Mr. Usman Shaukat, accompanied by Group Leader Mr. Sohail Altaf, called on the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Mr. Zafar-ul-Haq Hijazi, to discuss the concerns and challenges faced by the business community regarding the tax system.

During the meeting, the RCCI delegation appreciated the important role played by the Federal Tax Ombudsman in safeguarding taxpayers’ rights and ensuring protection against coercive practices by tax authorities. They acknowledged the FTO’s contribution to promoting fairness, transparency, and accountability in tax administration.

The delegation emphasized the need for a transparent, equitable, and business-friendly tax environment that encourages economic growth, facilitates ease of doing business, and strengthens taxpayer confidence in the system.

Federal Tax Ombudsman Mr. Zafar-ul-Haq Hijazi assured the delegation of the institution’s continued commitment to protecting taxpayers’ rights and addressing public grievances in a timely and effective manner. He reiterated that the FTO remains dedicated to ensuring fair treatment of taxpayers and improving trust between citizens and tax administration authorities.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the importance of constructive engagement between public institutions and the business community to foster a more efficient, transparent, and responsive tax system in Pakistan.
