PESHAWAR, August 2025 – Provincial Ombudsperson H.E. Rubab Mehdi held a meeting with Labour Minister Honourable Fazal Shakoor Khan to address the challenges faced by the labour community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a particular focus on safeguarding the rights of women workers.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Rabia Gul, Human Rights Coordinator (UNDP–Provincial Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), and Mr. Mohib, Deputy Director, Provincial Ombudsperson Secretariat.

Key issues discussed included the difficulties faced by labourers, the importance of creating a safe and enabling environment for women workers, and a review of the Ombudsperson Secretariat’s performance in handling complaints. H.E. Rubab Mehdi emphasized the Secretariat’s mandate to ensure protection, dignity, and empowerment of workers across the province.

Labour Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan reaffirmed the department’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights, highlighting ongoing and future initiatives such as women’s skill development and vocational training to support economic self-reliance.

The meeting underscored the importance of institutional collaboration to improve working conditions and strengthen mechanisms that guarantee justice and equity for all workers, particularly women.
