Peshawar | September 2025 — The Office of the Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the leadership of H.E. Rubab Mehdi-Khatoon Mohtasib, held a productive meeting with a delegation from UN Women Pakistan, led by Ms. Zainab (Head of UN Women, Peshawar), alongside Mr. Sher Ali (Rule of Law Expert) and Mr. Abbas (Development Coordinator, Ombudsperson Office).

The discussion focused on strengthening institutional collaboration and building joint initiatives to advance women’s empowerment and gender justice in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Key areas of engagement included:

  1. Enhancing institutional collaboration between the Ombudsperson Office and UN Women Pakistan
  2. Launching joint initiatives to support women’s empowerment and workplace equality
  3. Strengthening complaint mechanisms and access to justice for women facing harassment or discrimination
  4. Exploring new pathways for policy-level coordination and advocacy

The meeting laid the groundwork for actionable strategies that will reinforce gender-responsive governance in the province. Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to creating inclusive, safe, and equitable workplaces for women.

H.E. Rubab Mehdi was commended for her pivotal role in steering the dialogue, ensuring the agenda focused on practical outcomes and long-term cooperation.
