PESHAWAR — In a landmark first for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, H.E Rubab Mehdi, Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hosted a groundbreaking legal training session featuring Judge Lynne Townley QC, a distinguished member of the British judiciary.
Judge Townley, a Queen’s Counsel and prominent legal academic with deep expertise in courtroom advocacy and judicial education, was specially invited by Ombudsperson Mehdi to engage with young lawyers in the province. Throughout her career, Judge Townley has worked alongside many leading figures in the UK legal system, including current Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whom she advised during his time as a barrister.
This historic event marked the first time a British judge directly engaged with local legal professionals in KP, a milestone made possible by Ombudsperson Mehdi’s efforts to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
During the session, discussions extended to the launch of online training programs for aspiring lawyers, offering certificates of participation and ensuring broader access to quality legal education across the province.
The initiative is being hailed as a trailblazing step toward legal reform and professional development in the region, underscoring Rubab Mehdi’s commitment to innovation, empowerment, and bridging global expertise with local talent.
