PESHAWAR: An open court (Khuli Kacheri) dedicated to women was organized in Peshawar, providing a direct platform for women to present their grievances and seek administrative relief.
The session was attended by Sanaullah Khan, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, and Rabab Mehdi, representing the Provincial Ombudsperson Secretariat for Anti-Harassment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Women from different areas actively participated in the open court and presented a range of issues and concerns.
Senior officers of the district administration, representatives of the police department, and officials from various government departments were present to facilitate immediate coordination and response. Officers and staff of the concerned secretariat also attended the session to ensure prompt follow-up on complaints.
During the proceedings, women spoke openly about their grievances, including workplace harassment, administrative matters, and other social concerns. The Provincial Ombudsperson highlighted the role of the Secretariat in addressing harassment-related complaints and ensuring protection of women’s rights. She listened to the issues raised and issued directions for necessary action to resolve them.
The open court reflected the government’s commitment to responsive governance, women’s empowerment, and accessible grievance redress mechanisms at the district level.
