ISLAMABAD: In a strong vote of confidence and unity, the Board of Directors of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman (FPO) has unanimously elected Hon’ble Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch, Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, as the President of the Forum for the upcoming term.

The decision was formalized during the 34th FPO Meeting held on October 2, 2026. All 14 Federal and Provincial Ombudsmen, Ombudspersons, and their official representatives participated in the meeting online, endorsing Mr. Baloch’s nomination through mutual consultation and consensus.

Delivering his inaugural address as President, Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch expressed deep gratitude to the Board Members for reposing their trust in his leadership. He acknowledged the outstanding contributions and magnanimous role of outgoing President Mr. Zafar Hijazi in facilitating a smooth, seamless transition of leadership.

Outlining his vision for the Forum, Mr. Baloch vowed to broaden the understanding of FPO’s mandate, amplify its collective voice, and ensure that ombudsman institutions across Pakistan are better supported, connected, and represented. He emphasized the crucial need to safeguard the jurisdictional integrity of member institutions, enhance strategic communications, and utilize the FPO as an active platform for inter-institutional cooperation, enhanced visibility, and the broader advancement of administrative justice.

During the session, Board Members also placed on record their rich tribute to Mr. Zafar Hijazi for his exemplary leadership over the past year. The Board further acknowledged the Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat and all former Federal Tax Ombudsmen, whose sustained support over the past fifteen years has been central to the institutional continuity and growth of the FPO.
