Sargodha: Regional Advisor of the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Sargodha, Shaukat Mahmood, conducted an awareness session at the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry for members of the Kinnow and Jewelers Associations.

The session focused on taxpayers’ rights under the FTO Ordinance and was attended by business leaders, exporters, traders, and representatives of the local business community.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaukat Mahmood briefed participants on the role of the Federal Tax Ombudsman as an independent institution responsible for addressing maladministration by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He highlighted common issues faced by taxpayers, including unjustified tax demands, illegal attachment of bank accounts, delayed refunds, and discriminatory treatment by tax officials.

He informed participants that complaints filed with the FTO are resolved within 45 days and without any charges. He also explained the complaint filing process through Form “A,” which is available online and can also be submitted through WhatsApp.

Informational material on taxpayers’ rights was distributed among the participants, while the FTO internship programme was also appreciated during the session.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants raised their concerns and received guidance on tax-related matters.
