ISLAMABAD, August 2025 – Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah has revealed that his office disposed of over 44,000 complaints out of 50,904 registered during the last five years (2021–2025), setting a historic benchmark in taxpayer facilitation and justice delivery.
The announcement came during the formal launch of “Mohatsib ki Diary” at a ceremony hosted by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). The event was attended by prominent business leaders, senior tax officials, retired bureaucrats, media representatives, and members of academia.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Jah reaffirmed the FTO’s mandate to diagnose, investigate, and rectify injustices, while promoting systemic reforms for long-term fairness, transparency, and efficiency. He reflected on the challenges of reforming entrenched bureaucratic structures and credited merit-based team selection and persistence for the record progress achieved under his leadership.
Speakers paid glowing tributes to Dr. Jah for his dual role as a reform-driven ombudsman and a committed humanitarian. ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi praised his accessibility and historic record in addressing grievances against tax authorities. The National Book Foundation lauded his integrity and dedication.
Mohatsib ki Diary (2021–2025) not only chronicles Dr. Jah’s professional milestones but also highlights his humanitarian initiatives, including aid to earthquake victims in Turkey and the installation of more than 2,000 wells in Thar. New regional FTO offices in Sargodha, Mianwali, and Sialkot have further expanded access to justice for taxpayers.
Senior voices such as Orya Maqbool Jan, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, and Mian Abuzar Shad described the diary as a source of inspiration reflecting sincerity, selflessness, and timeless values that define Dr. Jah’s service to the nation.
