The National Moot Court Competition, jointly organized by the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) and the Pakistan Law Students Association (PLSA), concluded successfully on May 14 after two days of rigorous legal proceedings and academic engagement.
Held on the theme of Gender-Based Discrimination (GBD), the competition brought together 44 teams from universities and law institutions across Pakistan, providing aspiring legal professionals with a platform to demonstrate their advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and understanding of contemporary issues related to gender justice and professional law.
Following competitive preliminary and knockout rounds, four teams advanced to the semi-finals. In the final round, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) secured victory after an impressive performance, while the runners-up were also widely appreciated for their strong legal arguments and courtroom advocacy.
To recognize academic excellence and professional potential, the winning team was awarded internship opportunities by Abs and Co, while the runners-up received internship placements from Visa Walay Immigration Consultants.
The final round of the competition was presided over by a distinguished panel comprising Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Justice (Retd.) Musher Alam, Justice (Retd.) Sohail Nasir, and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Mr. Muhammad Shafiq ur Rehman. Their participation added prestige to the event and inspired the young legal minds participating in the competition.
The event highlighted the growing importance of engaging youth in discussions surrounding gender equality, workplace dignity, and professional justice. It also reaffirmed FOSPAH’s continued commitment to promoting awareness, legal education, and a more inclusive and equitable society through meaningful academic initiatives.
