Islamabad, November 3: Federal Ombudsman Mr. Ijaz Ahmed Qureshi has taken suo-motu notice of widespread complaints of maladministration at the Protector of Immigrants’ Office in Islamabad and has ordered immediate action to address the concerns.
According to a press release issued Monday, the Ombudsman has formed an inspection team led by Mr. Ahmed Farooq, Senior Advisor at the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat. The team is scheduled to visit the Protector of Immigrants’ Office in G-8/1 on Wednesday to assess the situation firsthand and ensure an amicable and timely resolution of the complaints.
The decision comes in response to numerous public grievances, including reported delays in the issuance of protector stamps, unnecessary hurdles for overseas-bound Pakistani workers, and alleged interference by unauthorized agents in the official process.
The Ombudsman’s initiative aims to restore transparency, streamline procedures, and protect the rights of citizens seeking employment abroad. The inspection team is expected to recommend practical measures to eliminate red tape and ensure efficient service delivery at the Protector’s Office.
This intervention reflects the Federal Ombudsman’s broader mandate to address systemic issues within public service departments and to ensure citizens are treated fairly and without delay.
