The Federal Ombudsman has resolved multiple public complaints in Quetta, Swat and Islamabad, providing timely relief to citizens in cases involving administrative delay, mismanagement and pending financial dues.

In Quetta, the Federal Ombudsman office intervened in a prolonged grievance regarding the non-provision of a gas connection. The complainant, Muhammad Fayyaz, had applied for a new gas connection nearly four months earlier, but the matter remained pending despite repeated follow-ups. After he lodged a formal complaint, the Ombudsman office initiated proceedings and summoned the relevant officials for a hearing. As the department failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the delay, clear directions were issued for immediate action. Following the directive, the gas connection was installed without further delay.

In Swat, the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat took prompt action on a complaint filed by Muhammad Khan, son of Perdes Khan, resident of Hua Dheri, Mian Banda, Tehsil Timergara, Lower Dir. The complaint related to correction in birth registration records and delays in the issuance of a national identity card by NADRA. The Secretariat sought a report from the concerned authorities and directed them to resolve the matter on priority, helping safeguard the citizen’s legal rights and improve administrative responsiveness.

In another case from Islamabad, the Federal Ombudsman ensured the release of a monthly benevolent fund and payment of Rs171,700 in arrears to complainant Bibi Samina. The case was taken up on priority due to the applicant’s financial hardship, and the concerned department was directed to comply immediately. The pending dues were later cleared, providing much-needed relief to the applicant.

Officials said these cases reflect the Federal Ombudsman’s continued commitment to providing quick, free-of-cost and effective redressal of public grievances against government departments. The institution reaffirmed that citizens can approach the Ombudsman in cases of delay, mismanagement or injustice without any fee or legal representation.
