DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 21: The Federal Ombudsman’s Regional Office in Dera Ghazi Khan granted relief worth Rs. 1.5 million to complainants in cases filed against the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO).

During the hearing of 140 cases, Investigation Officer Hafiz Muhammad Sohaib, acting on the directives of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, ordered the immediate removal of unjust fines in electricity bills. Complainants received on-the-spot relief, while hearings for absent complainants were conducted via telephone.
The Investigation Officer assured citizens that they could file complaints against federal institutions without fear, emphasizing that justice is provided promptly, transparently, and free of cost. He added that every case is resolved within 60 days without requiring a lawyer, ensuring a corruption-free redressal process.
Grateful complainants praised the Ombudsman’s office, calling it a true “court for the poor.”
