LARKANA: The Federal Ombudsman Secretariat on Tuesday established a regional office in Larkana to provide swift, affordable, and cost-free justice to residents of northern Sindh and surrounding areas.

The new office aims to bring dispute-resolution services closer to citizens, reducing travel hardships and ensuring quicker redress of grievances. The Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan is an autonomous constitutional institution mandated to address complaints of maladministration against federal government departments, autonomous bodies, and corporations. Its core functions include promoting transparency, accountability, good governance, and protecting citizens from injustice caused by delay, negligence, inefficiency, corruption, or abuse of authority.
Citizens can lodge complaints against a wide range of federal agencies, including passport offices, Pakistan Railways, WAPDA, gas utilities, NADRA, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), National Bank, National Savings Organisation, State Life Insurance Corporation, Radio Pakistan, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Pakistan Post, and other federal departments.
The complaint process is simple, transparent, and completely free. Complaints may be submitted in person at the Larkana office, through written applications, online portals, or by post. Following investigation, the Federal Ombudsman provides prompt relief, which may include correction of official records, recovery of unlawfully collected amounts, cessation of malpractices, and issuance of directives to the concerned authorities.
The establishment of the regional office was widely welcomed by the public. Citizens expressed gratitude to Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan Mr. Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi, Mr. Amir Ahmed Sheikh (PSP), Member In-Charge and Provincial Coordinator, Mr. Rashid Ahmed Sheikh, Director, and Mr. Syed Mahmood Ali Shah, Secretary, for their efforts in making the facility operational.
The regional office is expected to significantly benefit Larkana and nearby districts by strengthening public trust in government institutions and ensuring timely access to justice.
The inaugural event was attended by Dr. Abdul Waheed Indhar of the Regional Office Sukkur, Commissioner RD Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Consultant Fida Hussain Solangi, and other officials.
The Federal Ombudsman Secretariat urged citizens to utilize the new facility to seek redress against maladministration by federal entities.
