DERA GHAZI KHAN: To strengthen institutional frameworks and ensure the effective enforcement of anti-harassment laws across public sector departments, a comprehensive Capacity Building Workshop for members of Inquiry Committees was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The session was presided over by Khatoon Mohtasib Punjab (Ombudsperson Punjab) Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, who also addressed a press conference detailing the key objectives of the training initiative.
The event saw significant attendance from public administration officials and political leadership. Notable attendees included the Deputy Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shahnaz Saleem, former Member of the Provincial Assembly (Ex-MPA) Najma Arshad, alongside other distinguished guests and committee members representing various government departments.
During the workshop, the Law Officer from the Ombudsperson Regional Office, DG Khan, delivered a detailed presentation on statutory protocols, evidence evaluation, and committee obligations under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act. The presentation was followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, during which Dr. Najma Afzal Khan personally addressed technical and legal queries raised by committee members regarding complaint handling and inquiry procedures.
The initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Ombudsperson Punjab to empower internal inquiry committees, streamline grievance redressal, and guarantee safe, respectful working environments across all public sector institutions.
