ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting was held between Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi to deliberate on the core mandate and evolving role of the Ombudsperson institution in Pakistan.

During the meeting, both sides discussed key issues including protection of property rights, administrative accountability, and the strengthening of governance mechanisms to ensure effective public grievance redressal across the provinces, particularly in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani appreciated the proactive and impactful role played by ombudsperson institutions in safeguarding citizens’ rights and reinforcing public trust. He acknowledged their contribution toward promoting transparency, justice, and accountability, especially in underserved and merged areas. He also reaffirmed his continued support for institutional strengthening and collaborative governance, encouraging closer coordination with ombudsperson offices.
Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi briefed the Chairman Senate on the mandate, jurisdiction, and expanding responsibilities of the Ombudsperson institution. She emphasized transparency, justice, and institutional integrity as the foundational pillars of effective governance and public service delivery.
The meeting underscored the importance of sustained cooperation between parliamentary leadership and accountability institutions to enhance governance standards and ensure timely relief for citizens through efficient grievance redressal mechanisms.
