Islamabad, April 7, 2026: Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at Parliament House in a goodwill meeting following his assumption of office. The engagement focused on the performance of the Federal Ombudsman’s institution and ongoing efforts to strengthen the system for addressing public complaints.

During the meeting, Mr. Baloch briefed the Chairman on the institution’s achievements, stating that over 262,000 complaints related to maladministration were handled in 2025, with an impressive compliance rate of approximately 97 percent. He highlighted that the Ombudsman’s extensive regional network is ensuring prompt, affordable, and effective administrative justice, reaching citizens at their doorstep.

The Federal Ombudsman also shared details of key reforms, including the introduction of a modern online complaint portal aimed at resolving cases within 60 days. He noted that special focus is being placed on addressing the concerns of the middle class, while open courts and outreach hearings in remote areas are providing immediate relief to the public.

Emphasizing that timely redressal of grievances remains a top priority, Mr. Baloch said further measures are being taken to enhance transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in dealing with complaints arising from government maladministration.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani appreciated the strong performance of the Federal Ombudsman’s institution and expressed confidence in Mr. Baloch’s leadership. He termed the institution’s initiatives a significant step toward promoting good governance, transparency, and improved public service delivery.

The Chairman also conveyed his best wishes to Mr. Baloch in his new role. In response, the Federal Ombudsman acknowledged Chairman Gilani’s contributions to democracy and public welfare, noting the important role of his leadership in strengthening democratic institutions.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation for improved public service and effective grievance redressal across the country.
