KARACHI, July 22, 2025 – As Pakistan witness’s rapid digitization in its banking sector, Banking Mohtasib Sirajuddin Aziz has called on customers to exercise heightened caution in safeguarding their personal and financial information.

The Mohtasib’s statement comes amid a sharp increase in banking complaints, with 16,915 cases registered during the first half of 2025—up from 12,568 in the same period last year. Of these, 3,482 complaints were routed through the Prime Minister’s Portal. In response, the Banking Mohtasib Office resolved 16,006 complaints, providing Rs882.25 million in monetary relief—marking a significant rise from Rs681.07 million in 2024.

Sirajuddin Aziz emphasized that 94% of complaints (15,084 cases) were resolved amicably, while the rest were addressed through formal orders. However, he strongly warned the public against sharing sensitive financial credentials with third parties, especially over phone calls.

“Do not disclose your personal or financial information to anyone. Report any suspicious calls to your nearest bank branch or official helpline immediately,” he urged.

As digital platforms become the new norm in banking, the Mohtasib reiterated the need for public awareness and responsible banking practices to combat rising threats of fraud and forgery.
