Karachi: Banking customers received relief worth Rs 762.76 million during the first half of 2026 as the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan resolved 18,482 complaints filed against commercial banks, reflecting continued efforts to address consumer grievances and improve accountability in the banking sector.

According to figures released by the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan, the complaints resolved between January and June 2026 resulted in financial relief amounting to Rs 762.76 million for affected customers. The office also reported a sharp rise in the number of complaints submitted during the period, with a total of 21,392 new complaints received from January 1 to June 30, 2026, compared with 16,915 complaints during the corresponding period last year. Of the total complaints received this year, 4,005 were forwarded through the Prime Minister’s Portal.
Amid the increasing volume of complaints and growing concerns over banking fraud, Banking Mohtasib Pakistan Sirajuddin Aziz urged customers to remain vigilant against scams and forgery. He advised bank account holders never to share their personal or financial credentials with anyone and to immediately contact their nearest bank branch or the bank’s helpline if they receive suspicious calls.
