GUJRAT: As part of ongoing efforts to safeguard women’s legal rights and foster safe educational environments, an awareness and training session on the protection of women against workplace harassment was conducted at the University of Chenab, Gujrat Campus.
The event was led by Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, Ombudsperson Punjab for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, and organized by the university’s Office of Student Affairs.
Addressing students, faculty, and administrative staff, Dr. Najma Afzal Khan provided an in-depth briefing on legal protections, complaint mechanisms, and institutional obligations under workplace safety laws. She emphasized that establishing a harassment-free environment is not merely an institutional requirement but a collective societal responsibility. She encouraged the university community to remain vigilant, know their legal rights, and utilize official grievance redressal channels whenever necessary.
To reinforce ongoing awareness across the institution, awareness banners detailing protection guidelines and reporting procedures were handed over to the university administration for placement at prominent campus locations.
The event concluded with the presentation of honorary shields to Ombudsperson Dr. Najma Afzal Khan and accompanying officials in recognition of their dedicated services toward protecting women’s rights. Reaffirming its commitment, the administration of the University of Chenab pledged to uphold a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational atmosphere for all.
