Islamabad: Federal Tax Ombudsman Zafar Hijazi is set to present the FTO’s Annual Report 2025 to President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, highlighting a significant rise in complaint registration and resolution over the past year.
According to the talking points prepared for the meeting, 37,160 fresh complaints were registered during 2025, compared to 13,506 in 2024. A total of 39,000 complaints were processed, including 1,809 carry-forward cases from the previous year, 4 Own Motion cases, and 6,428 informal complaints, of which 35,830 complaints/cases were disposed of during 2025, as against 12,742 cases in 2024. Of 1,802 representations decided by the President of Pakistan, only 24 were set aside, while refund claims amounting to Rs 13,171.19 million were decided and paid to aggrieved taxpayers by the FBR during 2025, compared to Rs 22,793.00 million in 2024.
In 2026, from January 1 to date, the FTO has registered 15,361 complaints, disposed of 15,237, implemented 11,327, and secured Rs.33,206 million in refunds for taxpayers.
