The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, represented Pakistan as a keynote speaker at the inaugural international webinar hosted by the Hong Kong International Ombudsman Academy (HKIOA) under the Office of The Ombudsman, Hong Kong. Held under the theme “From Grievance to Governance: Ombudsmanship as Pillars of the Global Community,” the webinar brought together representatives of ombudsman institutions from more than 30 countries and regions across five continents to exchange knowledge and best practices in public administration and grievance redress.

The webinar was inaugurated by Mr. Jack Chan, Ombudsman of Hong Kong, who emphasized the importance of international collaboration among ombudsman institutions in strengthening governance, enhancing public accountability, and improving service delivery. He highlighted the value of sharing experiences and innovative approaches to address common governance challenges and promote effective public administration.

As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput shared Pakistan’s experience in advancing good governance through effective complaint resolution mechanisms and institutional oversight. His presentation highlighted the evolving role of the Ombudsman institution in promoting transparency, accountability, administrative justice, and citizen-centric public services. He also exchanged insights on handling public complaints and strengthening trust between citizens and public institutions.

The webinar also featured presentations by Mr. Songsak Saicheua, Chief Ombudsman of Thailand, while senior officials from the Office of The Ombudsman, Hong Kong, shared their experience in mediation, direct investigations, and systemic improvements in public administration.

The event served as an important platform for members of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) to strengthen international cooperation and exchange best practices. Representatives from ombudsman institutions across Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and Oceania participated in the discussions.
