Lahore: Ombudsperson Punjab Dr. Najma Afzal Khan visited Mehergarh: A Center for Learning and met with its Executive Director, Maliha Hussain, to reflect on the 29-year journey of the movement against sexual harassment in Pakistan.
During the visit, Mehergarh presented an overview of Dr. Fouzia Saeed’s pioneering work on sexual harassment, tracing the movement from its launch on December 22, 1997, to the passage of the landmark special law in March 2010.
The discussion also highlighted the implementation of the law across various sectors in Pakistan and the continued need for awareness, accountability, and stronger institutional mechanisms to ensure safe and respectful workplaces.
The visit served as a reminder of the progress achieved over nearly three decades, while also emphasizing the work that still remains in strengthening protection against sexual harassment and promoting dignity for all.
