Lahore: The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab commenced its first international internship programme, focusing on institutional learning, knowledge exchange, and cultural engagement.
Ms. Ayesha Hamid, Ombudsman Punjab, along with Mr. Kaiser Saleem, Secretary, warmly welcomed the participants and briefed them on the Office’s key achievements, ongoing initiatives, and its role in strengthening public service delivery and grievance redressal.
Mr. Nadeem Hassan Gohar, Registrar, provided a comprehensive overview of the mandate and operational framework of the Office. Participants were also given dedicated exposure to ISO 9001:2015 certification processes and departmental rotations, facilitated by Mr. Sami Ullah, Advisor Finance & Procurement / IT Infrastructure & Development. The sessions provided practical insights into service delivery, institutional procedures, and complaint redressal mechanisms.
The international cohort included Mr. Ismail Areff Bawamia, Investigator from the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children of the Republic of Mauritius; Mr. Ahmet Kesgin, Ombudsman Specialist from the Ombudsman Institute of Türkiye; Mr. Darren Carr, Senior Investigating Officer from the Office of the City Ombudsman, Cape Town, South Africa; and Mr. Muhammad Kamran Ali, Assistant Director, Ombudsman Secretariat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
The programme concluded with a meaningful exchange of ideas, promoting cross-institutional learning, professional dialogue, and international cooperation among ombudsman institutions.
