Nowshera: A significant milestone in the protection of women’s inheritance rights has been achieved in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as inherited property was lawfully distributed and handed over to four aggrieved sisters after years of delay and struggle.
Under the leadership of H.E. Rubab Mehdi and the dedicated efforts of the Legal Commission, the handover process was completed with transparency, dignity, and fairness.
In Mahajir Bazaar, Nowshera, possession of 10 commercial shops out of a total of 13 was formally handed over to the complainant sisters. In addition, 35 kanal of agricultural land located at Jalozai, behind the commercial market, was equitably distributed among four sisters and three brothers in accordance with legal and constitutional protections.
The successful resolution reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding women’s inheritance rights and addressing long-standing grievances faced by women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The intervention restored not only rightful property ownership but also dignity, confidence, and trust in justice mechanisms.
Officials said the outcome sends a clear message that women’s inheritance rights are enforceable legal entitlements, and that injustice in such matters will not be tolerated.
The case stands as a landmark example of institutional accountability, rule of law, and progress toward gender justice and social fairness in the province.
