KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Mr. Syed Murad Ali Shah met Federal Ombudsman Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch at the CM House on Friday to discuss improving public service delivery and strengthening institutional coordination.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized enhancing public grievance redress mechanisms and improving coordination between the Federal Ombudsman’s office and the Sindh government. He congratulated Mr. Baloch on assuming office and expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen accountability and service delivery in federal institutions.
Mr. Baloch thanked the Chief Minister for attending his oath-taking ceremony and appreciated the provincial government’s continued support. Mr. Shah described him as an experienced and capable former bureaucrat and termed his appointment a positive step toward effective resolution of public complaints.
The Chief Minister highlighted the need to expand the outreach of the ombudsman’s office across Sindh by establishing more regional and sub-regional offices to facilitate citizens at the grassroots level. He assured full cooperation of the Sindh government and announced that the provincial government would integrate its official portal with the ombudsman’s complaint management system to improve public access and awareness.
He further stated that a focal person would be appointed to coordinate with the ombudsman’s office regarding complaints against federal institutions, ensuring timely resolution. He stressed that public grievances related to federal departments should be addressed on a priority basis.
Briefing the Chief Minister, Mr. Baloch said the Federal Ombudsman’s office currently handles complaints against around 660 federal ministries, departments, and subordinate organizations, providing relief within 60 days free of cost. He noted that a significant number of complaints relate to electricity distribution companies, the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), passport offices, the National Database and Registration Authority, and other federal agencies.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation to ensure efficient service delivery and improved access to justice for citizens.
