LAHORE: The Office of the Provincial Ombudsman Punjab has provided relief worth Rs495 million to 36 citizens from different districts of the province following effective intervention on their complaints related to civic and administrative issues.

According to a spokesperson for the Ombudsman’s office, the complaints included errors in WASA utility bills, corrections in land measurements, malfunctioning drainage systems and other public service matters. Prompt action by the office ensured timely resolution of these issues.

The spokesperson said that 18 complaints related to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) were resolved, resulting in relief amounting to Rs1.377 million. These cases involved corrections in utility billing and accurate measurement of properties, which were addressed in a transparent manner.

Under various public service initiatives, the renovation of a park was completed at a cost of Rs2.635 million, while three water supply lines were constructed with an expenditure of Rs7.946 million. Additionally, drainage lines at 12 different locations were cleaned at a cost of Rs13.9 million. In Sargodha, desilting of a drain was carried out with an expenditure of Rs600,000.

In another significant development, the Ombudsman’s office acted on a complaint in Nankana Sahib, where an accurate measurement of 31 kanals of land was conducted. The land is valued at approximately Rs145 million, and the step helped ensure justice for the complainant while correcting official records.

Citizens who received relief appreciated the prompt and effective response of the Punjab Ombudsman, describing the institution as a reliable platform for resolving public issues in a transparent manner.
