Islamabad: The newly appointed Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman) of Pakistan, Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch, has reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the institution and ensuring effective resolution of public complaints. He stated that every possible effort will be made to address citizens’ grievances and that his doors will always remain open to complainants seeking justice.
Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch expressed these views while addressing officers and staff members of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat in Islamabad during his first meeting after assuming charge. Officers from regional offices also joined the meeting online.
The Federal Ombudsman directed officers to utilize their full capabilities to provide relief to citizens facing maladministration in government departments. He emphasized the need to make regional offices more active and highlighted that special attention would be given to improving service delivery in remote and underserved areas.
Mr. Baloch also noted that overseas Pakistanis are a valuable national asset, adding that their complaints would be addressed on a priority basis. He further reiterated his commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the Ombudsman’s decisions.
Reflecting on his new responsibilities, Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch said he considers himself fortunate that Allah Almighty has granted him the opportunity to serve the country during the blessed month of Ramadan. He also acknowledged the contributions of former Ombudsmen Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Mr. Syed Tahir Shahbaz, and Mr. Salman Farooqi, stating that they set high standards of public service which he would strive to uphold and further strengthen.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch took oath as the 9th regular Wafaqi Mohtasib of Pakistan on March 4, 2026. The oath was administered by President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Mr. Baloch belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and has held several key positions during his distinguished career, including Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal Secretary Finance, Secretary Cabinet Division, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sindh. He also represented Pakistan internationally as Executive Director at the World Bank.
