LAHORE: The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has facilitated the release of Rs235 million in pending family pension cases across the province, including Rs5 million granted to a widow from Pakpattan.
According to the Ombudsman Punjab spokesperson, a woman approached the Regional Office in Pakpattan, stating that following the death of her husband, the District Food Authority Sahiwal had failed to release her family pension. The delay caused her severe financial hardship.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Pakpattan office promptly took up the matter with the concerned authorities and actively pursued the case. Acting on the directions of the Ombudsman Punjab, an amount of Rs5 million was subsequently released to the complainant, providing significant financial relief.
The spokesperson further stated that similar interventions in family pension matters throughout Punjab have resulted in the cumulative disbursement of Rs235 million to deserving complainants.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Ombudsman Punjab for timely action and effective grievance redress, acknowledging the institution’s role in promoting transparency, accountability, and protection of citizens’ rights across the province.
