A large and impactful Khuli Kacheri (open public forum) was held in Malakand Division, Swat, reflecting a strong commitment to women’s empowerment, legal awareness, and accessible justice under the leadership of H.E. Ms. Rubab Mehdi, Provincial Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The session was presided over by Mr. Masood Ahmed, Commissioner Malakand Division, and was attended by senior officials from the district administration, police, legal departments, and various government institutions. Their presence enabled direct engagement between citizens and the state, fostering transparency and trust.
The forum witnessed an impressive turnout of approximately 1,200 applicants, including a significant number of women who openly presented their concerns. Issues raised included inheritance and property rights, legal protection, harassment-related complaints, domestic disputes, administrative grievances, and access to essential public services.
The Khuli Kacheri yielded tangible and immediate results. Around 300 property and grievance-related cases were resolved on the spot through coordinated administrative and legal facilitation, demonstrating swift institutional responsiveness. In addition, nearly 600 new cases were formally registered, reflecting growing public confidence in state institutions and an increased willingness, particularly among women, to seek legal recourse.
Officials assured participants of continued follow-up, legal guidance, and sustained action through the relevant departments. Special emphasis was placed on safeguarding women’s inheritance rights, enhancing legal awareness, and strengthening mechanisms that allow women to pursue justice without fear or hesitation.
The initiative underscores a broader commitment to transparent governance, responsive public administration, and stronger citizen-state relations. The Khuli Kacheri in Swat stands as a powerful example of collaborative governance, amplifying women’s voices, providing immediate relief, and promoting a culture where rights, dignity, and justice are actively upheld.
