PESHAWAR: An important consultative meeting was held under the leadership of Hon’ble Ombudsperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ms. Rubab Mehdi, as a significant step toward creating safe, dignified, and harassment-free workplaces.

The meeting focused on the establishment of a Harassani Watch Committee and brought together representatives from educational institutions, government departments, the Women Chamber of Commerce, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Information Technology, civil society organizations, human rights activists, members of the transgender community, special persons, and other stakeholders. Delegates from all sectors actively participated in the discussions.
Participants were briefed on the mandate of the Ombudsperson’s office, its role in addressing workplace harassment, protection of women’s rights, referral mechanisms, and the grievance redressal system. The meeting also reviewed existing legislation related to workplace harassment and discussed the practical challenges in its implementation.
It was decided that implementation and monitoring mechanisms would be further strengthened through the formal establishment of the Harassani Watch Committee, regular quarterly meetings, and an effective follow-up system to ensure sustained oversight.
The initiative reflects a collective commitment by all stakeholders to promoting justice, protection, equality, and safe working environments, reinforcing efforts to ensure dignity and equal opportunities for all segments of society.
