A public hearing was held at the District Accounts Office here on Friday to address public complaints related to pensions, General Provident (GP) Funds, and salary matters.
The forum was organized on the directives of the Accountant General Sindh and the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, with the Regional Director Ombudsman Hyderabad, Syed Sajjad Hyder Shah, presiding over the proceedings. Officials said the initiative aimed to promote transparency in financial matters and ensure timely redressal of grievances faced by government employees and pensioners.
A large number of citizens from Hyderabad attended the open forum and raised issues mainly concerning delays in pension payments, discrepancies in pension fixation, and problems related to GP Fund withdrawals. Participants were given the opportunity to present their complaints directly before the concerned authorities.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Sajjad Hyder Shah said that such public hearings serve as an effective mechanism to bridge the gap between citizens and government departments. He reiterated the Ombudsman office’s commitment to resolving complaints, particularly those affecting retired employees and senior citizens, without unnecessary delays.
He further stated that clear instructions had been issued to the relevant officials to address legitimate complaints promptly in accordance with existing rules and regulations.
District Accounts Officer Hyderabad, Syed Iftikhar Shah, along with other officials of the District Accounts Office, was also present during the proceedings. Officials assured the complainants that their cases would be examined on priority and that necessary corrective measures would be taken.
