ISLAMABAD, Jan 13: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi on Tuesday called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House.
During the meeting, Rubab Mehdi briefed the Speaker on the performance and key achievements of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson’s Office, with special emphasis on initiatives undertaken to safeguard women’s inheritance rights, particularly in the merged districts. She highlighted the relief provided to women through effective complaint redressal mechanisms and the timely resolution of property and inheritance disputes.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq appreciated the role of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson in protecting women’s rights and ensuring timely justice for common women. He acknowledged the office’s contribution in strengthening women’s access to inheritance, legal protection, and institutional support.
Rubab Mehdi termed the Speaker’s initiatives for women’s empowerment and parliamentary reforms as trailblazing and encouraging. She also highlighted the close coordination between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson’s Office and the Women Parliamentary Caucus, calling it vital for advancing women-centric legislation, effective policy oversight, and implementation.
The Speaker also appreciated the proactive initiatives of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, for the effective implementation of women’s property and inheritance rights. He lauded the Punjab government’s measures aimed at strengthening legal frameworks, improving land record management, and ensuring timely resolution of property disputes, particularly those affecting women.
Ayaz Sadiq described these reforms as a significant step toward safeguarding women’s lawful inheritance rights and promoting transparency, justice, and the rule of law across the country.
