ISLAMABAD, December: Wafaqi Mohtasib Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, highlighted the significant progress made by the institution in expanding public access to administrative relief and strengthening service delivery across the country.

He informed that over the past four years, 12 new regional offices have been established, increasing the total number of Wafaqi Mohtasib offices to 28 nationwide, including the Head Office in Islamabad. He said these expansions have helped bring justice closer to citizens, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

Mr. Qureshi noted that initiatives such as Khuli Katcheriya (open courts), Outreach Complaint Resolution (OCR) programmes, a dedicated WhatsApp channel, increased use of social and digital media, and regular inspections of federal offices have played a key role in improving accessibility and responsiveness.

According to the Wafaqi Mohtasib, the number of beneficiaries during the current year is expected to exceed 250,000, while inclusion of complaints from overseas Pakistanis and children may raise the total to nearly 400,000. Since the institution’s inception, relief has been provided to more than 2.58 million households, benefiting over 10 million people.

He further stated that the implementation rate of decisions has exceeded 93 percent, reflecting improved coordination with federal departments. More than 45 percent of complaints are now being submitted online, demonstrating increased public confidence in digital complaint mechanisms.

For the first time in the institution’s history, performance-based awards have also been introduced to recognize and motivate officers and staff, with the aim of enhancing efficiency and service standards.

Mr. Qureshi said these reforms underscore the Wafaqi Mohtasib’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
