ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) has successfully resolved a long-standing inheritance dispute involving property worth Rs100 million in Islamabad’s I-8 sector, ensuring that Ms. Huma Batool received her lawful share.
Ms. Batool had filed a complaint with FOSPAH seeking her inheritance from her late father’s property, naming her two brothers and mother as respondents. As an initial step, the Ombudsman directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to formally transfer the property allotment to the legal heirs.
Following the complaint, a reconciliation process was initiated to resolve the matter amicably. The main point of disagreement concerned the valuation of the property. To ensure transparency and fairness, FOSPAH appointed a local commission, which assessed the market value of the property at Rs100 million.
All parties accepted the valuation and submitted a joint statement, paving the way for a peaceful settlement. Under the final agreement, Ms. Huma Batool received Rs17.5 million as her rightful inheritance, which has now been paid in full.
After receiving the amount, Ms. Batool submitted a statement in favor of her brother Mr. Asim Maqbool, formally concluding the case.
A FOSPAH spokesperson said the decision not only protected the complainant’s inheritance rights but also helped resolve a sensitive family dispute through dialogue and lawful mediation, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to justice and women’s rights.
