ISLAMABAD, December 10, 2025: The Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) has directed Yango Pakistan to submit a statutory compliance report after serious allegations of sexual harassment surfaced against one of its drivers. The move reflects FOSPAH’s firm position on workplace and commuter safety.
According to the complaint, the driver allegedly made sexual advances, deviated from the assigned route, and engaged in inappropriate behavior during a booked ride. FOSPAH noted that the nature of the allegations requires a thorough review of Yango’s internal safeguards for preventing and addressing harassment.
Yango Pakistan has been ordered to provide, within seven days, detailed proof of compliance with the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010. Required records include evidence of a legally constituted Inquiry Committee, display and dissemination of the official Code of Conduct, internal complaint-handling protocols, passenger-safety systems such as driver vetting and in-app safety tools, and a full record of harassment-related complaints from the past three years.
A FOSPAH spokesperson stated that ride-hailing services “carry an elevated responsibility to ensure safe, dignified, and respectful travel environments, particularly for women who rely on these services daily.”
The Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to holding digital mobility platforms accountable, stressing that public safety cannot be compromised by weak procedures or oversight gaps. FOSPAH also urged citizens to report harassment incidents promptly, assuring that all complaints will receive swift and lawful action.
