QUETTA: Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade (BBoIT), Mr. Bilal Khan Kakar, met with the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, Ms. Fauzia Viqar. The meeting centered on expanding institutional cooperation following the establishment of the Federal Ombudsperson’s new Regional Office in Quetta.
Senior BBoIT officials were also present. Both sides discussed ways to increase awareness of anti-harassment laws, ensure timely handling of complaints, and improve enforcement across public and private institutions in the province.
Mr. Bilal Khan Kakar said that building a safe and dignified work environment is crucial for encouraging investment, stabilizing economic activity, and expanding women’s participation in Balochistan’s workforce. He reaffirmed BBoIT’s full support for FOSPAH’s initiatives, including awareness programs, training workshops, and stronger collaboration with government and private organizations.
Ms. Fauzia Viqar briefed the delegation on FOSPAH’s growing mandate and highlighted the significance of opening the new Regional Office in Quetta. She said the office will make filing complaints and seeking redressal faster and more accessible, noting that many cases from Balochistan previously had to be taken up in Islamabad.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to help create workplaces in Balochistan where every individual, especially women, can work safely, confidently, and with dignity.
