PESHAWAR, Nov 13: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, visited the Office of the Ombudsperson for Women in Peshawar on Thursday, where he was received by Provincial Ombudsperson Ms. Rubab Mehdi. Also present were Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat’s Regional Head Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq Jadoon and other officials.
During the visit, Ms. Mehdi briefed the Governor on the institution’s objectives and its ongoing efforts to resolve women’s complaints related to workplace harassment, property disputes, and broader socio-legal issues. She also introduced the online complaint registration system, which is designed to make access easier for women across the province.
Governor Kundi appreciated the office’s performance and emphasized its importance in protecting women’s rights and promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. He called for stronger awareness campaigns to prevent incidents of harassment and reaffirmed his commitment to women’s empowerment and equality.
He assured full support and cooperation from the Governor’s House in facilitating the Ombudsperson’s initiatives and ensuring timely redressal of complaints.
On the occasion, Ms. Mehdi presented a commemorative shield to the Governor in recognition of his support.
Separately, Mr. Qasim Hanif, member of the Scottish National Party and its National Executive Committee, called on the Governor. He expressed interest in enhancing cooperation between Scotland and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the areas of business, investment, and education, citing the active role of the Pakistani diaspora in Scotland.
Governor Kundi welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed that the Governor’s House remains open for all partners contributing to the province’s development. He underscored efforts in climate action, youth engagement, and women’s empowerment, while stressing the need to positively project KP’s image on the global stage.
In another meeting, a delegation of the Peoples Business Forum, led by Mr. Abdul Wali Turabi and Mr. Aqil Khan, met with the Governor to discuss challenges faced by the business community. They appreciated the Governor’s consistent support. Mr. Kundi pledged to raise their concerns with the relevant federal authorities and reiterated his commitment to promoting investment and a business-friendly environment in the province.
