Bahawalpur, October 31: Mr. Ghazi Amanullah Khan, Advisor to the Ombudsman Punjab, held an open court at Union Council Hataji in Tehsil Ahmadpur East to listen directly to public grievances and issue immediate instructions for their resolution.
The session drew a large number of citizens who voiced concerns related to various provincial departments. Key issues included a severe shortage of water in irrigation canals, delays in survey reports for flood victims by the Revenue Department, non-functional water filtration plant, lack of furniture at Government High School Hataji, absence of medicines at the Veterinary Hospital, and undue harassment of local traders by the police.
Responding on the spot, Mr. Ghazi Amanullah Khan directed the Public Health Engineering Department to complete the pending sewerage project and ordered Union Council staff to expedite the issuance of birth and death certificates. He also addressed complaints about teacher shortages at Boys High School Ahmedpur Tappa, inefficiencies in land distribution and demarcation by revenue staff, and a lack of clean drinking water in Mouza Baqarpur.
Further concerns were raised about the absence of a boundary wall at the local graveyard and cases of fraudulent property transfers within the Patwar Circle. Mr. Khan instructed relevant officials to take immediate corrective actions in all cases.
Later, Mr. Ghazi Amanullah Khan visited the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Hataji, where he directed the in-charge doctor to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines for patients.
Speaking to the public, Mr. Khan reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab to serving the people. He encouraged citizens to file genuine complaints against any provincial department without fear. He also announced that the complaint resolution period at the Ombudsman’s Office has been reduced from 90 days to 45 days to ensure faster, more accessible justice.
