Multan, October 30: In a decisive move showcasing the power of institutional accountability, the Federal Ombudsman’s Multan Regional Office helped a farmer secure a long-delayed life insurance claim worth Rs 1.28 million from the State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC).

The farmer had been waiting for two years despite having submitted all required documents following the death of his wife. Frustrated by the unexplained delay, he approached the Federal Ombudsman for redress.
Dr. Muhammad Zahid Malik, Regional Head and South Punjab Coordinator for the Federal Ombudsman (FO), launched an immediate investigation. The inquiry confirmed the complainant had fulfilled all formalities, and the delay by SLIC was unjustified.
Acting on Dr. Zahid’s directive, SLIC issued the cheque to the farmer, finally settling the claim. The complainant expressed deep gratitude to Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi and Dr. Zahid Malik for their timely and effective intervention.
The case highlights the vital role of the Federal Ombudsman in ensuring swift, fair resolution of administrative grievances, especially for citizens lacking access to legal resources. It also reinforces the ombudsman’s mandate to hold public service institutions accountable and deliver justice without litigation.
