ISLAMABAD, Sep 3 (APP): At a Khuli Kacheri organized by the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) in Bara Kahu, women courageously shared stories of being denied their rightful inheritance and property rights.
Heart-wrenching accounts included fathers transferring property exclusively to sons, widows being denied possession of property despite legal ownership, and uncles illegally occupying shares meant for orphaned daughters. For many women, this open forum was their first opportunity to voice grievances long silenced within families and communities.
Under the leadership of Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar, FOSPAH ensured immediate support through close collaboration with the Revenue Department and law enforcement. Officials including Qaiser Mehmood and Ch. Ali Javaid verified property documents on the spot, while DSP Fayyaz Ahmad Khan Shinwari and SHO Rafaqat Hussain Gujjar pledged protection against unlawful possession.
Beyond inheritance cases, residents raised broader community concerns, including waste management, early dispensary closures, and unchecked encroachments. These were promptly forwarded to relevant authorities for follow-up action.
The session showcased how cross-departmental collaboration bringing together federal, revenue, and enforcement bodies can turn the promise of justice into reality, creating safe spaces where women can break their silence and reclaim their rights.
