Islamabad – July 2025: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat organized an informative and engaging session on the Right to Information (RTI), featuring Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ali, Executive Director of the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) and former Information Commissioner at the Punjab Information Commission.

Drawing on over 25 years of experience in governance and public policy, Mr. Ali delivered a comprehensive presentation on RTI laws, transparency frameworks, and the responsibility of public institutions in ensuring access to information. He highlighted the importance of RTI in promoting accountability and public trust within Pakistan’s governance structure.

The session was attended by interns from all five categories—legal, research, social media, remote, and regional placements—who actively participated in the discussion. The interactive format allowed interns to explore practical challenges and solutions related to transparency and taxpayer rights.

This session is part of the FTO Secretariat’s broader initiative to empower youth with the tools and knowledge needed to support good governance, citizen empowerment, and institutional accountability in Pakistan.
