The Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) organized an open court (Khuli Katchery) at Union Council Sihala, providing women from nearby rural areas a direct platform to voice grievances related to property and inheritance rights.
Presided over by Federal Ombudsperson Fauzia Viqar, the session focused on addressing cases of illegal occupation, denial of inheritance, and other domestic injustices. Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) Mehrin Baloch was also present, offering immediate administrative support.
Dozens of women attended the session, sharing personal experiences of social and legal inequality. FOSPAH’s legal team was on-site to provide real-time legal guidance and document each complaint for follow-up.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Fauzia Viqar stated that “Justice should not be confined to courtrooms. For many women, forums like these are their only means to claim their rightful inheritance.” She also visited a local skills training center where girls are learning sewing and embroidery, commending the center’s role in empowering women economically.
This initiative is part of FOSPAH’s broader commitment to ensure women’s access to justice, especially in underserved communities, by breaking down barriers such as lack of awareness, social pressure, and family resistance.
